Head guide and owner/operator Steven Goodhew has been fishing Northern Australian waters for over 20 yrs. Steven was brought up in a fishing orientated family, spending every available opportunity fishing the local area and extensively throughout north Queensland, where he became a full time sportsfishing guide. Steven’s passion for the visual side of fishing has resulted in I’ll Take Ya Fishing Charters becoming a specialised sight casting operation.
I’ll Take Ya Fishing Charters currently operate two customised flats fishing boats, which have been designed to allow the angler the longest time possible on the flats due to the minimal amount of draft they require.
Barramundi are the first fish onto a flat on a rising tide, and the last to leave on the falling tide, and our boats are built to suit, which gives our guests the biggest window of sight casting to these fish as possible. The boats are both equipped with electric motors for stealth, with front and back casting decks, and clutter free main decks for maximum fishing space and comfort. All vehicle transfers are in airconditioned 4WDs, and we offer a full pick up and drop off service.
Our rods and reels are of the highest quality, we use a huge range of different rods and reels on our trips. For the lure fisherman we use 4-8 kg GLoomis rods, matched with Shimano curado 200e reels, as well as GLoomis 2-6kg spin rods matched with Shimano Stradic2500 spin reels. For the fly fisherman we use 8 weight or 9 weight fly rods, lines required are floating or intermediate stripper tapers. All rods and reels are supplied on a replace if lost or damaged basis.
